About Fiona

Fiona is a highly experienced Speech Pathologist with over 20 years of expertise in developmental paediatrics. Originally trained in New Zealand, she has worked across diverse healthcare systems, including the NHS in the UK, before settling in Brisbane. Upon moving to Australia 15 years ago, she became the senior speech pathologist at one of Brisbane’s first purpose-built centres of excellence for autistic children.

Fiona has a longstanding passion for working with autistic children and their families. She now plays a key role in multidisciplinary teams providing differential diagnosis for Autism Spectrum Disorder, working alongside paediatricians, psychologists, and occupational therapists.

Fiona is known for her dynamic and informal assessment style, which is especially effective in culturally diverse contexts. Over the past decade, she has worked closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, where she delivers culturally responsive and family-centred care with sensitivity and respect.

As a strong advocate for neurodiversity, Fiona helps families recognise and celebrate the unique ways their children think, communicate, and connect with the world. She also supports families in understanding and accessing early intervention and NDIS services, ensuring they feel confident and empowered throughout the process.
