EMPLOYMENT PATHWAYS AT SPEECHCARE
Two Pathways, One Supportive Team:
At Speechcare, we know one size doesn’t fit all. That’s why we offer two distinct pathways for speech pathologists—whether you’re ready to lead as a contractor or just starting your journey as a new graduate. Both paths are built on the same foundation: real support, a values-driven culture, and the freedom to grow into the clinician you want to be. Choose the model that fits your goals—and let’s build something meaningful together.

NEW SPEECH GRADUATES
WORK WITH US!
Graduate Speech Pathologist – Positions Available:
- Program: Speechcare New Graduate Traineeship Program
- Position Type: Full-time (12-month traineeship with potential for ongoing employment)
- Reports To: Clinical Lead / Senior Speech Pathologist
Why We Call It a Traineeship
At Speechcare, we know that the transition from university to clinical practice is a huge leap. That’s why we don’t expect you to be “job ready” on day one — and we don’t want you to feel like you have to be.
This role is called a traineeship because it reflects our philosophy: that the first year of practice should be an extension of your learning journey, not a sink-or-swim scenario. As a trainee, you will be:
- Supported, not just supervised
- Given protected time to reflect, upskill, and debrief
- Encouraged to grow your identity as a clinician with confidence and authenticity
The Speechcare traineeship provides the safety, structure, and support needed to develop into a competent, compassionate, and self-assured speech pathologist — at your pace.
About the Role
As a Speechcare early career clinicain, you will work with children and young people (0–18 years) with a wide range of communication needs, including neurodivergent clients, speech and language delays, AAC users, and more. You will be embedded in a team that values neurodiversity, family-centred practice, and clinician wellbeing.
Key aspects of the position include:
- A slow, graded caseload build-up over the first 6 months
- Weekly 1:1 clinical supervision and mentoring
- Access to an internal learning program and structured PD calendar
- Team-based learning, case conferencing, and peer reflection sessions
- A learning environment that welcomes questions, feedback, and curiosity
Key Responsibilities
- Provide assessment, planning, and intervention services for children and families
- Work collaboratively with families, educators, and other professionals
- Participate in reflective supervision, peer learning, and ongoing training
- Contribute to team culture and uphold Speechcare’s neurodiversity-affirming values
- Maintain accurate documentation in line with ethical and legal standards
